In the world, the number of persons having obesity has doubled since 1980 till date due to urbanization and modernization in lifestyle. According to the report of WHO published in 2008, 140 crore adults are overweight and out of this 20 crore men and 30 crore women have become victims of obesity. Our country is advancing fast in this race towards obesity. The situation which was observed only in affluent countries years before, is now spreading at a rapid pace in economically medium and poor countries. The war against malnutrition has not yet been won and the problems related to obesity and diseases caused by it have started increasing.
