(1) Exercise for increasing capacity of heart and lungs : This is called cardio or isotonic exercise. While doing this exercise, heartbeats and respiratory rate increase. Examples : brisk walking, running, swimming, cycling,etc.
(2) Exercise for increasing capacity of muscles and bone : This is called resistance / strength training or isometric exercise. Example : weight lifting exercises which make use of different muscles and bones.
(3) Exercise related to bending of limbs and trunk : This is called stretching or flexibility exercise. Example : Bend forwards -backwards and side wards, etc.
(4) Exercise used to reduce waist circumference : This is called abdominal / abs exercise. Example : crunches or plank-hold, etc.
